"What's the story morning glory?"
For some reason I’ve been waking up quite early lately. I am aware that we recently went through a time change, but even for that I’ve been waking up earlier against my will. And once I wake up in the morning, I usually cannot go back to sleep. This recent change in my sleeping patterns has made me decide that it’s not the actual earliness that I used to shun, but I was shunning the reason for waking up (i.e. school, work, etc.). If it were not for those things, I quite like the morning. And here’s why...
It’s unnaturally quiet,
sunrises to me are alway better than sunsets,
you’re almost forced to stop and be somber and slow,
I have not had one horrible conversation (or silence) during the golden hours,
and a part from feeling more fatigued at the end of the day, you feel like you got more accomplished.
Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy sleeping in, but this is just something I have recently discovered about myself and I thought I’d share it. And this entry was not without purpose. Coincidentally, morning is also a wonderful time to take pictures. Here are a couple I took this morning. I was visiting friends in Raleigh and woke up way too early for everyone else, so I went and sat on their porch with my camera. ;)
If you don’t already, I hope to get to enjoy mornings as I have begun to.

Love & Houses
This month I wrote a small article for the Dec/Jan issue of The Foothills Times, a local magazine originating from Stokes Co., NC. The article was about a very special man called Frank Helsabeck. Here I've included what I wrote. If you wish to see the rest of the Foothills Times please do! It's a pretty neat little 'zine :). Click here to check out the magazine :)
"If you’re a native of Stokes County, chances are you’ve heard of the infamous Frank Helsabeck and his eclectic hand built home deemed the Helsabeck House.
The home is nestled at the edge of the woods as you approach the end of a country gravel road in Rural Hall. If you’ve never been, then you’ve never seen the uniquely constructed wooden and tin structure that Frank calls home, and therefore probably don’t know why he built it in the first place! Frank Helsabeck (born September 27th, 1926) originally cut the lumber that now makes up his home, around 1978 in hopes of building a roller -skate rink. But when that didn’t work out, he remembered a song when he was younger that spoke of a mansion of gold on top of a hill, and decided to build it. To this day Frank is still taking care of his mirror and light adorned mansion, pleased with any respectful passerby's company for some ice cream or a Coke. We should always be thankful for Mr. Helsabeck for the joy he has brought and will continue to bring for many, many years to come."
Hope you liked it :)

Why hellooooo there...
Well it finally happened. I was brave and made a website. Not that I’m the most exciting person in the world and I CAN’T WAIT to tell everyone my daily adventurous (and occasionally harrowing) mishaps. But I thought it might be a fun way to display my photos :). I definitely take enough to support a blog! Maybe not daily, that might be a little over-eager...and let’s face it...since I’m not a celebrity, cooking expert, doctor, or famous inmate...Martha Stewart, my blog won’t be the top priority on peoples lists. And will most likely get boring after seven days in a row (is it weird that when I typed ‘seven days’ I thought of The Ring voice? Probably.) But I can have some pretty interesting things to say. So I might as well start out with weekly entries and see how that goes! Sound good? Awesome! Hope y’all like it!
